Braces move the teeth into the right position and are used for crooked teeth, crowding and other bite problems. The treatment is called orthodontics and takes between six months and around two years. Common types are clear aligners, classic fixed braces and braces on the inside of the teeth.
Braces are most common among children and teenagers, but work just as well for adults. At Dentme we only offer Invisalign, which is a set of clear aligners.

How a braces treatment works
The treatment starts with a consultation where the dentist examines your bite and takes digital impressions. A personal treatment plan is then drawn up. Once the braces are in place, regular adjustments are made until the teeth have moved into the desired position. You also get instructions on how to look after the braces and how often you need to come back for check-ups.

There are several options depending on your needs and preferences:
Almost invisible braces with aligners (Invisalign)
Clear aligners such as Invisalign are a popular choice if you want a discreet solution.
Advantages of Invisalign:
Almost invisible - perfect if you want to avoid visible braces.
Comfortable - no metal brackets to rub.
Removable - easy to take out for meals and special occasions.
Digitally planned - predictable results with the help of 3D technology.
Invisalign works best for mild to moderate bite problems. For more complex needs, fixed braces or a combined treatment may be more suitable.
Fixed braces
A traditional and very effective method that is still widely used in orthodontics.
Advantages of classic fixed braces:
Precise and reliable results.
Available in tooth-coloured materials for a more discreet look.
Being fixed in place allows careful adjustments over time.
Classic fixed braces are particularly well suited to more extensive bite problems and complex cases.
Lingual braces - braces on the inside
Lingual braces, such as Incognito, are placed on the inside of the teeth and are therefore not visible at all from the outside.
Advantages of lingual braces:
Completely invisible from the outside.
Effective results comparable to classic fixed braces.
Gives the dentist good control over the treatment.
Note that this type of braces requires particular specialist expertise and is not suitable for everyone.

More and more adults are choosing to straighten their teeth, for both functional and aesthetic reasons. Discreet options such as Invisalign and braces on the inside mean the treatment is barely noticeable in everyday life.
